What is component 4f?
Component 4f pertains to an educator's ability to demonstrate professionalism. Teachers are obligated to serve their students and their profession. To ensure they are properly serving, teachers should let the interests of their students act as their priority. Educators who properly adhere to displaying professionalism are constantly advocating for the needs of their students.
Why do you need it?
Reinforcement of professionalism ensures that educators suitably serve their students' best interests. It also reminds teachers about the importance of acting honestly and with integrity, as they serve as a role model for countless students.
What are the elements?
Integrity and Ethical Conduct
- Teachers present themselves in a virtuous manner and act as role models for their students.
- Teachers ensure they are considering student needs at all stages of practice.
- Teachers support the interests of their pupils at all times.
- Teachers are informed about the needs of their students and let this data drive their decisions.
- Teachers ensure they follow all of the policies of the district they are employed by.

Educators can demonstrate proficiency of Domain 4f in their classroom by:
- displaying trustworthiness
- putting students as their first priority
- reminding colleagues and the community the students come first
- putting personal beliefs aside to support student interests
- fairly punishing wrong-doers
- displaying confidentiality regarding student information
- being regarded as a true role model for students and colleagues
