What is component 4b?
Component 4c pertains to the importance of maintaining accurate records. Teachers must keep both instructional and non-instructional records in order to keep their classroom running smoothly.
Why do you need it?
Maintaining records relating to instruction let both students and teachers understand their progress in learning. Understanding student success informs teachers how to advance in teaching. Keeping non-instructional records pertains to the importance of recording important information students turn in. Teachers are often responsible for keeping track of money and permission slips students turn in. It is important accurate records are stored for this information as well.
What are the elements?
Student Completion of Assignments
- Teacher must record if students completed assignments, as well as how they did completing them.
- Teachers must assess improvement in student learning to determine how they should progress in teaching.
- Records are more than just grades. Teachers must keep track of important files and money students turn in.
Artifacts of Domain 4b
Teachers can show mastery of Domain 4b in their class by:
- having a system for recording student information
- analyzing student progress through completed assignments
- recording information pertaining to non-instructional purposes (i.e. permission slips, health forms, money)
- having a system to track incomplete assignments (missing assignment forms)
- involving students in the tracking process to help them understand their progress in learning
